Interesting Info: Inquisitive and skeptical, innocent yet wise, Sylvester Jr.'s presence was both a comfort and a pain to his mouse- chasing dad Sylvester. Junior is forever embarrassed by the failures of his Dear Old Father. His pride in his father, and his complete faith in his mouse catching abilities is the catalyst for Sylvester Sr.'s disasters

in many cartoons. Junior is a perfect pint size miniature of his dad, even down to his lisp and tomato nose.
First appearing in 1950's Pop'Im Pop! Junior goaded his dad into chasing the giant mouse (the kangaroo Hippety Hopper). Later shows puts Sylvester Sr. in the worst of it in his efforts to fulfill his fatherly duties: failing to help his little scout earn a merit badge by chasing a vicious dwarf eagle in 1958 The Cat's Paw ,getting outsmarted by junior's new feathered playmate in 1961 Birds of a Father ,becoming tangled up and washed out on a bungled fishing trip in 1962 Fish and Slips ,and joining the ranks of the homeless in 1963 Claws in the Lease.

circus and down the street. Meanwhile, Sylvester is telling his son tall tales about catching a giant mouse. When Hippety comes behind Sylvester ,Junior goads his father into fighting the giant rodent. "C'mon, Pop! Go get the mouse like you said you could, unless you want to destroy a child's faith in his father! " Sylvester boxes with the Kangaroo, getting beaten to a pulp.

Hippety Hopper, inside a crate headed for the zoo, hops off and enters the basement of a house just as Sylvester is lecturing Junior on "The mysteries of life" (mouse catching, boasting "I'm the cat who can show you all the tricks of the trade. They don't come tricky enough or big enough for your father". Hippety Hopper repeatedly throw Sylvester out of the room to the same of his son. "Wherever I go," Junior laments, "people will point at me and say, "There goes the kid whose father was thrown out by a mouse!"

Once again,Hippety escapes, and Sylvester and Junior mistake him for a giant mouse. This time Sylvester has told Junior he cant teach him how to catch mice because there are none around. Junior carves a windpipe to attract mice Piedpiper style. This time, after seeing Hippety first, Junior tries to convince his father that something is amiss.
1957: Mouse-taken Identity

On a mouse hunt at the County Museum, Hippety Hopper has escape from the zoo and taken refuge in a stuffed kangaroo's pouch. Junior is ashamed to learn that the mice who've been giving his father such a hard time over the years are such tiny things, Sylvester snow jobs Junior saying :You see son, mice come in assorted sizes. Little runts, Like the ones around here, and king-sized mice like I used to hunt." On hearing this, Junior points out that the big stuffed kangaroo must be an example of the latter when Hippety emerges from the pouch.

Sylvester finds himself in a tank with Hammerhead's and Shovel nosed sharks, swallowed by a Whale, shocked by Electric eels, too finally landing in a tank of "Dogfish."
